Velma R. Heninger

Velma R. Heninger, 96, of Momence, IL, died on Wednesday (October 14, 2009) at the Bickford House in Bourbonnais, IL. She was born on July 17, 1913 in Grant Park, IL, the daughter of Herbert G. and Nina E. Hayden Pemble. On June 6, 1934 she married Harry L. Heninger in Grant Park, IL. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1997. Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law: Roger and Patricia Heninger of Grant Park, IL. Two daughters and one son-in-law: Marcelia Wilson of Momence, IL; and Susan and Richard Degitz also of Momence, IL. Eight grandchildren: Wil and Jeannie Wilson of Florida; Velma Hubbs of Florida; Stephen and Gabriela Wilson of Mexico; Alan and Lorene Heninger of Brookfield, IL; David and Julie Heninger of Grant Park, IL; Dawn and Ed Kinstner Jr of Momence, IL; Stephanie and Roger Boone of Missouri; and Scott Degitz also of Missouri. Mrs. Heninger had 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. One special cousin, Eva Belle Hines of Oklahoma also survives. Mrs. Heninger was preceded in death by her parents and one great-great-grandson. In 1931, she graduated from Momence High School. She later went on to graduate from Gallagher School of Business. She was a homemaker for many years. Mrs. Heninger had a very active role in the First United Methodist Church of Momence, IL. She had served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, and as an administrative board member. She also belonged to Martha's Circle and the Court Unit Home Extension. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, traveling, and going to her grandchildren's sporting event.
