Scott D. MacKay

Family Submitted: Scott "Scotty" D. MacKay, 52, of Winfield, IL, left the shackles of his broken body and leapt into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. He was holding his sisters' hands in his home at the Good Shepherd Manor, Momence, IL. Born in LaGrange, Illinois to David (d. 2007) and Norma (d.2009) MacKay, Scotty suffered a massive hemorrhage on the brain in his second week of life, caused by Osler Weber Rendu Syndrome - aka Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). Despite the resulting physical and mental limitations, Scott was lovingly raised by his parents and is survived by his three siblings, Cathy MacKay of Loganville, GA, Don (Kristen) MacKay of Manila Philippines, Cheri (Steve) MacKay Clark of Winder, GA as well as nephews and nieces David (Josie) MacKay of Chicago, IL, Austin (Sharina) MacKay of Colorado Springs, Co, Anna Clark of Atlanta, GA, Caleb (Rachel) MacKay of Manila Philippines, Noah Clark of Buford, GA, Ethan Clark of Dacula, GA, and Isabelle Clark of Dacula, GA, and great nephew and niece, Paul and Ruth. After living in a group home in University Park for 23 years, Scotty was left without a home due to Covid in 2020. Through God's miraculous provision, a place was made available to Scott at Good Shepherd Manor in Momence, IL. There, Scotty enjoyed his seven housemates at Colon Wyle House, attending Day Program, bowling, going out to eat, sitting on the front porch listening to music, waving his flags, and watching the weather systems roll in. His favorite thing was his iPad, where he could FaceTime with his siblings every day, listen to music, and watch "Arthur" and "Clifford." Wherever Scotty went, you could be sure there would be music and flags. His smile lit up a room and his excited whoops were contagious! He was full of hugs and laughter and never let you leave without asking you to pray with him. Scotty loved Jesus & would shout "Praise the Lord!" and "Hallelujah!" He is now doing this every minute of the day! The family is forever grateful to all the caregivers, teachers, nurses and therapists Scotty has had over his lifetime. In particular, while on Hospice the last 2 years, the staff at Good Shepherd Manor and Up-Lifted Hospice Care gave Scott the most incredible loving care.
