Ruth Marcotte

Ruth E. Schulz Marcotte (nee Reiners) (89) of Kankakee and long time resident of Momence, Ill, beloved wife for 52 years of the late Clarence Marcotte, passed away Thursday, August 8th, 2013 at Provena Health Care Center, Kankakee, IL. Mrs. Marcotte is survived by her 3 sons, Eldon (Lorraine), Paul (Jean) of Momence and Steve (Rosemary) of Schaumburg, 7 grandchildren, David, Brian, Sharie, Terese, Julie, Mary and Matthew. Deceased is one grandson, Michael Marcotte. Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, as well as her sister, Katherine (John) Langhoff. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding her in death were her three brothers (Harold, Richard and Robert Reiners). She was born on December 16th, 1923 on her parents' farm in Chenoa, IL to Reiner Reiners and Malba (Gaither) Reiners. She was married to James E. Schulz in 1942 who was then killed in service during WWII in France in 1944. She had graduated from the Gallagher Business School in Kankakee, IL. She then married Clarence H. Marcotte in 1947 and lived with him in Momence, IL farming their land during their primary years. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling to Alaska, South America, Europe and throughout the rest of the United States. They spent winters in Clearwater, Fl and Pharr, TX. They were married 52 years before Clarence's death in 2000. She was a member of St Patrick Church of Momence, a member of the Catholic Council of Women there and more recently Maternity of the Blessed Virgin in Bourbonnais after moving there in 1999 with Clarence. Mrs. Marcotte was the Chairwoman of the Homemakers Extension Association of Momence, IL, and longtime member of the Momence Antique Car Club. She assisted the club with many trips in old cars throughout the Midwest region. She was also a member of the Momence Women's Club. Painting, boating, golf, egg decorating and crafts were life long enjoyments as well as the antique car club with Clarence. They enjoyed the many friends they made through these activities. She and Clarence were very involved with the Momence Gladiola Festival Antique Car Show every year since its inception. It was one of the highlights of the year for them. Visitation will be Monday, August 12 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Cotter Funeral Home, Momence. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Momence on Tuesday at 10:00AM with the Reverend Dan Hessling officiating. Memorials can be made to Good Shepherd Manor, Presence Heritage or to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. Cemetery: Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Momence. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday (August 12, 2013) at the Cotter Funeral Home. Service: A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday (August 13, 2013) at 10:00am St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence.
