Renee Maguire

Renee Maguire, age 72, of Yukon, OK, passed away on August 12th, 2026. She was surrounded by the love of her family and the legacy of a life fully lived. She leaves behind a community of family, friends, and mentees who were touched by her warmth. She was born November 18, 1953, in Harris County, Texas, to Ada Marilyn Devers and William Bennie Dana. From an early age, she carried a curiosity and drive that would take her from the plains of Texas all the way to the heights of NASA, where she built a career that reflected both her sharp mind and her fearless spirit. On August 21, 1976, she married the love of her life, James Patrick Maguire (Jim) at Faith Assembly of God in Pasadena, TX. Together they shared 50 remarkable years of marriage. Their partnership was one of joy and mischief in equal measure. They were always laughing, always finding a reason to celebrate, whether it was over an ice-cold Coca-Cola, a trip to Disney, or time spent with their beloved King Charles Cavaliers by their side. In 1980, she welcomed her son, Jerrod, who she often called the light of her life. Motherhood became one of the great joys and defining purposes of her days. She was gracious and wonderful, always inviting friends and family to the many places they lived throughout Jim’s career with British Petroleum: League City, TX; Pasadena, TX; Yorktown, VA; Edinburgh, Scotland; Dyer, IN; Rawlins, WY; Ocala, FL; and Yukon, OK. She always created a beautiful home for hosting and planned itineraries to ensure everyone had a good time. Her creativity never stayed confined to one path. She went on to found a thriving wearables business in North Dakota, and later was a successful real estate agent in Yorktown, Virginia Music was woven through every part of her life. A gifted vocalist and a natural musician, she played vibraphone and piano with ease, often sharing her talents in church services. In her high school years, she added alto saxophone to her repertoire, embracing every opportunity to make music and bring joy to others Her faith in the Lord grounded her, and it showed in how she moved through the world with a pure heart and an open hand. She poured herself into her community, teaching aerobics to elderly and handicapped individuals, bringing movement, laughter, and dignity to people who needed it most. Her contagious laugh and generous spirit made her a friend and mentor to countless people over the years, the kind of person others turned to for guidance, comfort, or simply a good time. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jim Maguire; her son, Jerrod Maguire; her daughter in law, Megan Maguire; her granddaughters, Lucy Maguire and Peyton Randolph; her brother, Bennie Lane Dana; her nephews, Branden and Joey Dana; and her niece, Maggie Dana, along with the many friends and mentees whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ada Marilyn Devers and William Bennie Dana. She will be remembered for her laughter, her faith, her fearless reinvention, and the countless lives she made better simply by being in them. Visitation will be held on August 25th, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 224 E. Washington St., Momence, Illinois, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. She will then be committed to her final resting place at St. Patrick Cemetery in Oxford, IN, at 1 p.m. CST. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in September in Pasadena/Clearlake, TX.
