Jane Rotondo

Jane Rotondo, 87, of Bloomfield, NJ, formally of Momence, IL, died on Tuesday (August 25, 2009) at St. Joseph Hospital in Wayne, NJ. She was born on April 9, 1922 in Momence, IL, the daughter of Lee and Ruth Haslett Snapp. Surviving is one daughter: Maria Jane Santos of Nutley, NJ. One sister: Amy Gannon of Peoria, IL. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Ms. Rotondo was preceded in death by her parents, one son (Charles J. Rotondo), four brothers (Claude E., George, Joe, and John Lee Snapp) and one sister (Ruth Wyant). She was the financial secretary for the Columbus Hospital Auxillary and an active fundraiser. She painted and pencil sketched much of the artwork that adorns the halls of the hospital. She was a member of the Women's Chapter of the Bloomfield Unico and was name Who's Who of American Women in 1987 and 1988. Ms. Rotondo had been a member of the Momence Gladiolus Festival Association. She served as the vice-president of Parents Without Partners, Essex chapter and was their women of the year. She was co-founder of Bereaved Parents support group in New Jersey. She had been a member and officer of the Greated Newark Chapter of the New Jersey State Opera Guild and was a member, treasurer, and trustee of the New Jersey Opera Guild She especially enjoyed working backstage of the opera. Ms. Rotondo was a hairdresser for 65 years. She owned and operated Caravan of Beauty and Caravan of Jane serving patients at nursing homes in Essex, Hudson, Union and Vergen counties in New Jersey. She also was a hairdresser for over 40 funeral homes in New Jersey. Memorials: St. Jude Children's Hospital Cemetery: Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. 10156 E. 4000 N. Rd.
