Edward R. Hana

Edward R. Hana, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 17, 2018 at Bickford Senior Living in Bourbonnais. He was born on June 17, 1935, in Bridger, MT, the son of Robert Arthur and Elizabeth Marie (Lehman) Hana. Ed married his lifelong love, Ruby M. Keen on February 6, 1954. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2005. Ed served proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War Era. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Kankakee for 35 years, first as main Window Clerk and later as Vehicle Training Instructor. He enjoyed his post retirement years delivering flowers for Busse and Rieck. Driving was one of his passions. He loved being on his motorcycle as a Goldwinger and on his John Deere mowing his lawn. He enjoyed fishing and sports and was a great fan of watching his grandchildren play baseball, softball and football. Maybe his favorite pastime was simply hanging out with his good friends in the mornings having coffee and sharing stories. A good man, a friend to many, a great dad, a fantastic grandparent and an amazing husband, his friendly "scowl" and sense of humor will be missed by so many. He is survived by his three children; Robert W. and Sherry L. Hana of Lake Barrington, IL, Sheila K. and Robert R. Pommier of Grand Island, NE, and Richard T. and Dr. Lauren M. Hana of Boca Grande, FL. He is survived by five grandchildren; Justin and Daylen Hana, Aly and Max (Katharine) Hana and Heather Pommier. Also surviving are four great grandchildren; Natalia, Brayden, Aiyana and Akari Pommier and two sisters; Carol Crandall of Windsor, CO and Karen DeVinney of Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by both his parents and stepmother Mert, two brothers; Daniel in infancy and Bruce and grandson; Jason Pommier.
