Obituary for Wayne J. Pionke

Wayne Joseph. Pionke, 72, of Momence, IL died on Monday, February 4, 2019 at his residence. He was born on August 20, 1946, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Chicago, IL, the son of Joseph and Esther Rataiczyk Pionke.

He attended St. Mary of the Angels and Gordon Tech in Chicago, IL. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam era. He married Eileen M. Lehner on December 10, 1966, in Chicago, IL. She survives.

Father of two daughters and sons-in-law; Lori and Steve Bleyle of Bourbonnais, IL, and Lisa and Matt Bilthuis of Georgia and three sons and daughter-in-law; Joseph Pionke of Chicago, IL, Wayne and Sarah Pionke of Sparta, Tennessee and Kevin Pionke of Bourbonnais, IL. One sister and brother-in-law; Diane and Al Hendon of Elgin, IL. Grandfather of 12 grandchildren and great grandfather of 8. Fond brother-in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter; Elizabeth Therese Pionke.

He was a retired supervisor for the CTA. Wayne was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Momence, IL and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He loved Chicago sports, fishing with his boys, feeding the animals, woodworking making bean bag sets, gardening, and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Cremation rites will be accorded.
