Lizetta G. Williams

Lizetta G. Williams, 94, of St. Anne, IL, died on Friday (Sept. 10) at her residence. She was born on November 16, 1915 in Niles Center, IL, the daughter of Herman and Elsie Dahling Gerhardt. She married Marshall A. Williams on January 1, 1943 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on February 19, 2002. She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law: Judith Chesebro of Bourbonnais, Rebecca and David McMillan of Pembroke Twp., and Mary Williams of Pembroke Twp. She is also survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law: David and Sharon Williams of Warren, MI, Daniel and Dee Williams of Chadron, NB, and Mark and Karen Williams of Momence, IL. She has 32 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren. One daughter , Barbara Ann Williams and one brother, Herman Gerhardt, are deceased. Mrs. Williams had spent 5 years ttaking evening classes at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. Lizetta worked as a comptroller operator for the Illinois CentralRailroad in Chicago for ten years.Her ministry as a pastor's wife included serving Illinois congregations in Lovington andPaxton and one in Wayland, Michigan. Together she and Marshall directed the Bible Witness Camp, a youth ministry in Pembroke Township, from 1955-2002. After Marshall's death in 2002, she continued her ministry at the Bible Witness Camp which included writing the lessons and teaching a women's Sunday School class, writing newsletter articles and letters toher family, coordinating a Bible correspondence course ministry, and praying for her family, friends, and missionaries around the world. Earlier years found her cooking countless meals in her home and in thebcamp kitchen, driving a bus for after school Bible clubs, sorting and distributing clothing and toys to the families of the congregation, teaching and mentoring many children, youth and adults in the Pembroke Township area. People around world were touched by her greeting cards. In addition to her own family, many other "adopted" children called her Mom and Grandma and each one was special to her. Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ and the Scriptures spilled over into the love she had for all whose lives touched hers. The goal of her life was to help as many people as she could come to a saving knowledge of God through faith in Jesus and to know the freedom of forgiveness and surety of eternal life through his death, burial and resurrection. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Bible Witness Camp, 16089 E 2500 S Road, St. Anne, IL 60964 Cemetery: Burial was in the Bible Witness Camp Cemetery. Visitation: There will be no visitation. Service: A memorial service will be held on Sunday (September 12, 2010) at 3 PM at the Bible Witness Camp, 16089 E 2500 S Road, St. Anne, IL 60964
