Obituary for James W. "Moocher" Hess

James W. "Moocher" Hess, 74, of Momence, IL, died on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at his residence. He was born on October 23, 1944, in Momence, IL, the son of Wallace G. and Margaret Laking Hess. He married Beverly L. Carpenter on August 21, 1965, in Momence, IL. She survives.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Brian and Renee Hess of Momence, IL, Timothy and Sharie Hess of Momence, IL, and Rick and Rosalind Hess of Bourbonnais, IL. Five brothers and sisters-in-law; Dale and Latisha Hess of Arkansas City, KS, Tom and Judy Hess of Kankakee, IL, Roger and Gayle Hess of Momence, IL, David and Janice Hess of Bourbonnais, IL, and Mike and Cheryl Hess of Momence, IL. Three sisters and brothers-in-law; Sue and Bill Spoon of Momence, IL, Barb Nabors of Momence, IL, Vicki and Dan Thorne of Bourbonnais, IL. Four grandchildren; Gina Lewis, Josh Hess, Nathan Hess and Trevor Hess. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Gene Hess, one sister; Ruth Boughton, and one grandson; Christopher Hess.

He was a retired laborer at the Bunge Factory in Bourbonnais, IL. He had attended the First United Methodist Church in Momence, IL. He enjoyed golfing and had attended 53 years of the Indy 500 races.

Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no funeral services held.
